Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery features Prefa pre-painted aluminium cladding supplied by Euro Metals

Freedom of material expression is a must when it comes to creating effective architecture. When Mitchell & Stout Architects designed the new Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery in Titirangi, an individualistic, highly malleable facade proved a vital component of the complex project.

The architects envisaged a modern building to sit alongside the existing gallery, Lopdell House. One way to draw the two structures together was through the cladding on the new gallery.

After looking at other options, Mitchell & Stout opted for Prefa, a pre-painted aluminium skin folded in the traditional European manner and sourced from specialist company Euro Metals. Prefa boasts a tile-like aesthetic with a stippled, textural finish a classic contemporary look that was ideal for linking the buildings.
