Modular wardrobe systems from Italy popular in homes and apartments throughout Europe are now providing an attractive storage option for the design-conscious American market.

It's a development that Serge Belferman of Prestige Designs United States distributor for Italian furniture maker Dall'Agnese believes will gather pace.

"We have found that Dall'Agnese's designs are well-suited to the American home," he says. "The modular wardrobe system is available as an open-shelf system, which is a good option for apartments or smaller homes, or as a closet with doors, with the look and feel of a piece of furniture. The company's systems can be up-sized for larger bedrooms, which tend to be larger than in their equivalents in Europe."

Dall'Agnese's wardrobe systems are available in wood veneers, lacquers and glass.

"For many years the company was associated with high-end traditional furniture. While these pieces are still popular, the company introduced more modern pieces a few years ago," he says.

Prestige Designs is also the US distributor for Copat Kitchens, a high-end designer and manufacturer of classic and modern Italian kitchens.

The kitchens are made in Italy from environmentally friendly materials. Copat Kitchens recently received the European Union's EMAS certificate for its green practices, and the UNI EN ISO 9001 quality system award.
