Even the appliances are a perfect match in this white contemporary kitchen

Two Smeg Linea ovens feature in this bright, modern kitchen designed by Rebecca Banks of Inside Vision, part of Stewart Scott Cabinetry

The beamed ceiling and long skylight give a structured look to this kitchen, which had to fit snugly and squarely underneath the skylight. The large skylight optimises natural task lighting on both the kitchen island and perimeter work surfaces. Polished concrete floors and wood surfaces reflect the familys love of the natural world.

This pristine white kitchen forms the central section of a run of rooms at the front of the home. Features of the space include the concrete rafters, rich plywood ceiling and a long skylight all playing a part in the dramatic look of the kitchen, which was designed by Rebecca Banks of Inside Vision, part of Stewart Scott Cabinetry.

"To contrast with the direction of the beams and reinforce the horizontal look of the front of the home, we emphasised horizontality in the cabinetry and through the choice of Smeg's Linea range for the ovens. The kitchen had to be white on white at the owners' request, too, and the two ovens neatly fitted with this as well, as did the backpainted white glass splashback.

"For tonal contrast, we brought touches of the ceiling into the kitchen through the introduction of wood shelving and the island stools."

This white, bright clean-lined family kitchen is by designer Rebecca Banks from Inside Vision, part of the Stewart Scott Cabinetry company. The kitchen emphasises horizontal lines as well as white tones, and the design aesthetic for Smegs Linea range ideally fitted the bill. The Linea oven range has a colour touch-screen display showing the array of cooking programmes and functions available.

Banks says the entire project had an emphasis on planet-friendly design. To this end, almost everything except for the German high-tech cabinetry hardware and Smeg Italian-made appliances was manufactured in New Zealand. The owners even looked into whether appliances were created with a green ethos in mind. And the Smeg ovens met this latter criteria.

Smeg's touch control Linea Combi Steam Oven and Microwave Convection Oven were chosen for the high-end kitchen. The Linea ovens are designed to make the chef's life easy, with intuitive displays and interactive menus.

Steam cuisine is quick, easy and healthy. A combination steam oven has all the benefits of a traditional oven and a steam oven in one compact appliance. The advantages of steam combi ovens include: precision temperature control; the ability to cook different foods together without flavours mixing; and that they are ideal for defrosting and reheating. Lastly, they are highly suitable for cooking all types of food, from meat to bread not just vegetables!

Microwave convection ovens are often called microwave combis as they're a versatile combination of an oven and a microwave and you can use both functions at the same time. Both appliances were a perfect match for this design.
