Earth friendly from Home & Living Trends volume 2304
Wide wilderness views are framed by numerous windows and doors at the Suncadia showhome. However, as you would expect, meeting high aesthetic and energy-efficient standards meant paying particular attention to the selection of door and windows.
By being involved in the project, Vander Hoek Windows and Doors aimed to showcase the natural aesthetic and energy-saving benefits of its Jeld-Wen Custom Series windows and doors, while providing clear, open views of the woodland setting.
"The idea was to use wood-framed windows which would tie in with the surroundings. The chestnut bronze exterior frames blend seamlessly with the house exterior," says Amanda Roberson from Vander Hoek Windows and Doors. "To meet the Built Green standards we also needed to come up with the highest energy-efficient collection of windows and doors. Jeld-Wen's partnership with Energy Star made the task a relatively simple undertaking, and with the specification of Low-E glass, heat loss is reduced during winter."

Vander Hoek Windows & Doors supplied Jeld-Wen aluminum-clad wood windows and doors. The wood interiors and chestnut bronze exteriors were chosen to complement the natural surroundings.
Low-E glazing was specified to help the home stay cool in summer and warm in winter. For durability, the wood components are made from Australast™ wood.
