Colourful effects from Commercial Design Trends volume 2512
With many interior design schemes, the key emphasis is likely to be on those parts of the office used by the company's clients, such as reception and waiting areas, and meeting rooms. Staff lounges, on the other hand, are often overlooked or given a much simpler treatment.
At IDS Interior Design, the philosophy is to focus on the practicality of the interior, giving due consideration to space planning and to working within a client's budget for a professional result.
For its new Kuala Lumpur offices, HwangDBS Investment Bank wanted an interior design scheme that would break away from the rigid, traditional style often associated with the banking industry.
Director Alex Lim says the aim was to create an interior that was chic, sleek and fashionable, with a touch of novelty.
"We wanted the same look to extend through the entire offices – from the main reception area to the staff lounge," he says.
IDS Interior Design selected an attention-grabbing combination of red, black and white for the staff area.
In line with IDS Interior Design's business philosophy of developing a synergy between interior and graphic design, these shades were chosen partly because they feature in the company's corporate colour scheme and logo design.
"While this area is still part of a bank, it is no longer run of the mill, but instead is bright, lively and full of fun," says Lim.
A Z-shaped wall at the back of the lounge is finished in red. A television is integrated into it, which saves space and creates a focus in the room.
The meeting room features a distinctive black wall, as well as black leather sofas and a contrasting white coffee table.
With almost 15 years' experience in the industry, IDS Interior Design is well set up to offer its clients a wide range of professional interior design services, with its particular specialities being space planning, design concept, visual presentation and project management.
The company offers furniture selection, furnishing and upholstery services, undertakes refurbishment and restoration projects and provides an interior design consultancy service for its clients.
With its hands-on approach, IDS Interior Design ensures its clients' requirements are considered right from conceptual stages to project completion.
