Right the first time
Right the first time from Kitchen Trends volume 2308
Poring over glossy images in magazines and books is the easy part of planning a new kitchen – and probably the most fun. But choosing cabinetry styles and countertops is just a small part of the project. The serious stuff that really makes the difference is the space planning and functionality.
It's at this point that most homeowners throw up their hands and call for help, which is where your local National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) member comes in.
NKBA members have seen it all before, which means they know exactly how to tackle difficult space planning issues. They can also advise on the material palette and appliances – their job ensures they are kept up to date with all the latest products and trends.
NKBA members can also save you money, which is an added bonus. As well as ensuring you get it right first time, avoiding costly mistakes, they can source products at competitive rates.
Patricia Brown, CKD, president NKBA Northern California, says the NKBA is not just about design expertise and product knowledge. The association includes contractors and manufacturers who can assist in building your new kitchen or bathroom.
"The NKBA promotes professionalism among all its members, monitors standards, and fosters excellence in design, manufacture and installation. The association also monitors the ethics and behavior of affiliated trades."
Brown says the talents and skills of members are recognized annually, with awards presented at the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS).
Another resource provided by the association is the Kitchen & Bath Consumer Workbook. This handy reference guide includes remodeling tips and answers to common questions.
For more information, call the NKBA, phone tollfree (800) 843 6522. Website: www.nkba.org.
